We got to spend a week in Port Aransas in late February, and had the luxury of time to invest in sketching and painting some of the birds we enjoyed watching while we were there!
I love seeing how Pelicans skim along just above the surface of the water.

It was really overcast most of the time we were there, which was FINE with us desert dwellers! Might as well take a short break from the sun when we get one.
So in this picture I was trying to capture the color and light that we were seeing on the beach. And I was warming up a bit with the gouache, as it had been a while since I had painted.
